Summary
Fish Around does not collect or transmit any information about you. It does not read your browsing history, page content, input, or personal information, and never sends anything to the developer’s or any third party’s servers.
Data the extension handles
- Settings (on/off, count, speed, size, opacity, bubbles, flee from the cursor, the list of sites to hide on, and the list of enabled packs) are saved in Chrome’s
storage.sync. If you have Chrome sync turned on with your Google account, Google syncs them between your devices. The developer cannot access this data. - Fish packs (images added from the catalog and images you upload) are saved in Chrome’s
storage.localand never leave your device. - The “Don’t show on this site” list stores only the host names of the sites you choose. Page URLs and content are never recorded.
Network access
The extension only connects to the network to download the pack list and images from https://fish-around.gakux.workers.dev/ when you view or add fish from the catalog. These are anonymous downloads that send no information identifying you. Images are downloaded once when added and saved on your device, so no further requests are made.
The catalog is hosted on Cloudflare, which may temporarily keep standard access logs (such as IP addresses). The developer does not use them to identify individuals.
Permissions
- Read and change all your data on all websites: needed to overlay a transparent drawing layer on top of every page so fish can swim there. The extension never reads, modifies, or sends page content.
- storage: to save the settings and packs described above.
- activeTab / scripting: to learn the current tab’s host name for the “Don’t show on this site” option in the popup, and to show fish in tabs that are already open right after installation.
Catalog site integration
Only the catalog site (https://fish-around.gakux.workers.dev/) is allowed to ask the extension to add a pack. No other website can access the extension.
