About
Not a fish but a reptile — still, no aquarium would be complete without one. It swims by slowly flapping its wing-like front flippers.
The “green” in its name comes not from its shell but from its greenish body fat. Adults eat seagrass and algae, and the pigments from that diet are thought to tint the fat.
It is known for returning to the beach where it hatched to lay eggs, and it is listed as an endangered species.
In Fish Around
It moves slowly and calmly, as if flying through the water.
